The Atlas of Middle-Earth (Revised Edition)

Though not as charmingly rendered as some of Tolkien’s original maps in black and red, nor colorful like the 1970s calendar map by Pauline Bayes, this book is perhaps the definitive set of maps of the lands of Middle Earth. It covers everything from the creation of the world through the end of the Third Age with detail maps covering much of the action in the different books including the wars against Morgoth from The Silmarillion, the travels of the dwarves with Bilbo from The Hobbit and both the journeys of the Fellowship and the movement of armies from the Lord of the Rings trilogy. There’s also a wealth of detail on things like climate, geology and other such details near and dear to cartographers along with maps showing key information like the political divisions of Numenor.
