For those aspiring to be game designers, this book provides a good overview of games in general, the key elements in them, and the role of designers in the process of creating video games. Starting with a look at the various genres and highly representative examples, the book then moves on to design theory with things like character motivation and finally to design process, covering all the elements that are brought together to make a game that’s playable and fun. There’s a good list of resources divided by the various aspects of games, be it level design, 3D graphics, physics engines or the like.
