Review

Rating: 8

Five strangers cross paths in Cairo and must confront the evil magician Nar with the assistance of a Jinn named Shams. A fast-paced story that should have been a longer story, but manages to hit all the right notes with references to Rumi and all manner of colorful characters and not just the five central characters, though they’re equally interesting, being a hashish smuggler, a disillusioned Lebanese-American jihadist wannabe, a reporter from Orange County trying to find herself, a dissident journalist who’s in love with the smuggler’s sister, and an Israeli special forces soldier stranded on the wrong side of the Egyptian border.
